CEDAR CITY, Utah, Sept. 11 - Southern Utah running back Deckar Alexander has been named this week's Great West Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the Conference office and was named the GWC overall player of the week by College Sports Madness for his performance in the Thunderbirds' 35-14 win over No. 12 Sacramento State on Saturday.

Alexander, a 5-foot-7, 190-pound running back from Fontana, Calif. (Menlo College/Henry J. Kaiser HS) carried 18 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns, also caught five passes for 23 more yards in the win. His first TD was a 12-yard run that gave the Thunderbirds their first lead of the game, 10-7, while his second score iced the game with 1:40 to play, a 3-yard run that gave the 'Birds the 35-14 advantage.
