CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah University women's tennis captured its third consecutive match with a 5-2 victory over Idaho State on Thursday afternoon. The win moves the Thunderbirds to 7-5 on the year and 3-2 in the Big Sky Conference.

The Thunderbirds swept each doubles match of the contest as each pairing posted wins of 8-6, 8-2 and 8-3 and No.1, No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. Freshmen Veronika Rogova and Anastasiia Vasileva's victory at No. 2 marked their fifth consecutive win and kept their record spotless at 5-0 this season.

Alex Ivanova also ran her consecutive winning streak to seven in a hard-fought match at No. 2 singles. Ivanova breezed to a 6-0 win the first set and led much of the second until Idaho State's Kasey Bacon fought back to tied the set at 6-6 and force a tiebreaker. Bacon had set point at 6-2 in the tiebreaker, but Ivanova closed the gap and finished strong by taking the final six points and won the match 7-6 (8-6).

Rogova and Vasileva also picked up wins in singles as Rogova won in three sets at No. 3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 and Vasilva won in straight sets at No. 5, 6-1, 6-1. Fellow freshman Madeline Skaras secured Southern Utah's final point of the day with a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4, marking her second consecutive win of the season as well.

Southern Utah will be back in action next weekend with a Big Sky Conference match at North Dakota on April 6. The contest will feature both recent additions to the league with the match scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
