Nathan Ott Joins SUU Track and Field Coaching Staff

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Aug. 18 - Nathan Ott has been added as a full-time assistant coach for Southern Utah University's track and field staff and will continue to coach the throwers.  Ott served as a volunteer assistant coach over the throws last season.

"This will definitely help us become stronger in the throwing events," head coach Eric Houle said of the newest addition to the SUU coaching staff.  "Adding another full-time assistant speaks volumes about the direction that we want to go with this program."

Ott finished his career at Southern Utah, holding the school's all-time mark in the hammer with a distance of 201 feet five inches. He also finished his career as an NCAA regional qualifier and the Mid-Continent Conference champion in the hammer throw at the 2007 outdoor championships.

During his first year of coaching in 207-08, his record was broken as he coached Greg Watson to a record-breaking mark of 216 feet six inches in the hammer throw at the SUU Invitational.

Ott is a native of Cedar City, Utah and will work with the throwers in addition to other duties as assigned
