CEDAR CITY, Utah - Nov. 19 - Southern Utah women's basketball completed its early signings with the addition of South Sevier High School's Jadie Parsons. Parsons is the third to sign with the Thunderbirds during the early signing period, joining Tayler Anderson (Lyman, Wyo./Lyman HS) and Chanel Thorley (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland HS).
Parsons, a 5-8 guard, averaged 13.9 points, five assists and 2.5 steals per game last year, helping South Sevier to a 22-2 record and 2A state title. She is a three-year starter for the Rams, guiding the team to a 64-8 record over that span. Parsons has garnered several individual honors, including 2008 Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News 2008 2A MVP, 2008 2A Tournament MVP, Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News 2007 2A first-team all-state, 2007 all-tournament team, 2006 Salt Lake Tribune 2006 season-team all-state and Deseret News 2006 third-team all-state.
"Jadie comes from a very successful program at South Sevier," Janes said. "She is an off guard that will bring a lot of outside attention because she shoots the ball so well. She's fundamentally sound and knows how to get things done on both ends of the floor."

She has appeared in multiple all-star games, including the 2008 Superstar Elite camp, 2008 Wyoming Coaches Association 3A all-state team and the 2007 Wyoming Coaches Association 2A all-state team. Anderson played club ball with Salt Lake Metro and will be joining former teammates Caitlyn Sears, Jamie Sagers, Morgan Slade, Amanda Farish, Taylor Dancer and Cassie Platt already on the Thunderbird roster.
"We expect Tayler to come in and play the 3-spot for us," interim head coach Kit Janes said. "She's a physical player that runs the floor well and has a great deal of athleticism. She is a great young lady and plays all phases of the game very well. We're excite to have her."
Thorley, a 6-3 post player, is ranked as one of the top 36 forwards in the nation while averaging 7.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game as junior. Her performance propelled the Lady Hawks to a 33-3 overall record and a 2008 Arizona Class 5A State Championship. Following the season, Thorley was named second-team all-Fiesta Region while shooting 49 percent from the field and leading Highland HS in blocks with 46.
"Chanel is very physical and tough, but runs the floor very well," Janes said. "She'll come in a play the 4-spot for us and we feel she is physical enough to play with the best 4's in our conference."
