ARROYO GRANDE, Calif., Nov. 2 - Southern Utah's women's golf team finished 12th at Cal Poly's Lamkin Grip Invitational Monday.
Sadie Palmer led the way for the Thunderbirds in 13th place.
The Thunderbirds were ninth after shooting 315 in Sunday's first round but slipped three spots after firing 323 on Monday over the 6,046-yard, par 72 Cypress Ridge course to finish at 638. Palmer, who shot 74 on Sunday, shot 77 Monday for a final total of 7-over par 151, nine shots off the pace of Cal State Northridge's Ashlee Nagamine, who shot 66 Monday to move up 14 spots and claim the title.
CS Northridge also claimed the team title, finishing at 591 to edge Northern Arizona by a stroke. First-round leader Xavier finished third at 602.
Mikayla Williamson finished second among Thunderbirds, in 27th place at 155, while
Morgan Kerber (165) was 61st,
Kacy Buckner (168) was 73rd and
Jamie Coking (179) finished 87th. SUU's
Brittany Edwards, playing as an individual, finished 88th (181).
"This was a good field playing on a good course," SUU Coach
Richard Church pointed out. "I was really pleased with the way we played [Sunday]. It's too bad we weren't able to maintain that level of play, but I'm not too disappointed in the way we finished."
Southern Utah wrapped up its fall schedule at the tournament.
