SAN RAFAEL, California, March 05 – Southern Utah women's tennis team started its three days California road trip with a 9-0 win over Division-II Dominican University on Friday afternoon. The Thunderbirds took every singles point in straight sets and gave up only two games in the three doubles matches, resulting in a sweep of the doubles competition as well.
During single games, Ksusha Nazarova did not let the opponent score even one game, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Michele Freitas at No. 2. The other five matches were carried in the same tempo. Olga Tatarchenko took a 6-1, 6-3 win over Stephanie Lemp No.1, Kirrily Burden topped No. 3 Anh Truong 6-4, 6-1, Carmen Blanco swept Caskey Cunningham 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4, Kristi Latteier and Mandy Divino beat No.5 Jessica Curlett 6-1, 6-0 and Brittany Lewis 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6, respectively.
Doubles competition resulted in all three wins for the Thunderbirds, starting the first match with the Russian duo Ksusha Nazarova and Olga Tatarchenko deafening Stephanie Lemp and Michele Freitas 8-2. Carmen Blanco and Kirrily Burden took on Caskey Cunningham and Anh Truong without dropping a single game, winning 8-0. Kristi Latteier and Mandy Divino beat Jessica Curlett and Brittany Lewis 8-0 as well.
SUU plays another match tomorrow against San Francisco University in San Francisco, California at 1:00 p.m.
