CEDAR CITY, Utah - June 24 - Southern Utah senior Carlos Valle has been named the Summit League Male Field Athlete of the Year for his performance during the outdoor track & field season.

Valle picked up a pair of conference titles at the 2010 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field championships, including the men's shot put (52-9.50) and the men's discus (170-10).  The Juan Diego High School product led the league throughout the year in the discus, holding an advantage of more than 17 feet.  Valle was a four-time NCAA regional qualifier for Southern Utah and finished his career at SUU as the school record holder in the discus and ranked seventh in the hammer and second in the shot put.
