Women's Cross Country Ranks Second in the Nation in Academic Performance

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Feb. 16 - Southern Utah's own women's cross country team has been honored on a national level, after ranking second in the USTFCCCA Division 1 Scholar Team of the Year for the 2010 season. The T-Birds earned an average GPA of 3.70 and took part in a three-way tie for second with Missouri State and Arkansas State, who also had 3.70 averages.

"It is a great honor when you consider the number of teams involved," said head coach Eric Houle. "It's really a credit to the athletes and the way they are able to balance school work with training and competition."

Villanova University took home the first-place position after earning the highest average GPA among the NCAA championship competitors.
