OGDEN, Utah - Nov. 7 - Southern Utah University women's volleyball used a trio of attackers with double-digit kills to take a four-set victory over Weber State on Monday night. The win retains the Thunderbirds' flawless record against in-state schools with a victory already over Utah State earlier this season.

Southern Utah overcame a slow start in the first set, using an 8-2  run to reverse its fortunes trailing 3-2 and taking a a 10-5 lead. The advantage for SUU grew to as much as eight, 22-14, deep in the set before Weber State made a late push with a three-point run and forced an SUU timeout. The break proved to be beneficial as the 'Birds closed out the set with their own three-point run to take the set 25-17.

Five Weber State errors and a Cashaana Renfro kill in the second put the Thunderbirds up quickly 6-1 in the set and led to a Weber State timeout. The attack stalled as the Wildcats came back to take a lead of their own, 14-10. The run was answered by Southern Utah as the T-Birds outscored WSU 15-5 down the stretch to take the set 25-19.

Weber State prevented a three-set sweep with a 25-18 victory in the third set after coming out of the halftime break with a 3-0 run to start the frame. Southern Utah bounced back in the fourth set, taking the first point on a Renfro kill and then built a lead of 12-7 that led to a Weber timeout. The T-Birds kept the pressure on with back-to-back points out of the break on a pair of Wildcat errors. Southern Utah wasn't able to slam the door shut on the victory down the stretch as Weber State drew to within one three times and finally tied the frame at 23-23. However, the Thunderbirds were able to withstand the push and capitalized on a WSU error and Kylie Schofield kill to take the match 25-23.

Renfro and Schofield each tallied 10 kills for the Thunderbirds on the night, but it was Analaine Pelaez-Mailoto that led all SUU attackers with 14 kills. The Hooper, Utah native also recorded a team-best 12 digs for her third consecutive double-double in as many matches. Weber State's Bethany Wray led all attackers during the match with 20 kills and was the only Wildcat in double figures.

Southern Utah will look to remain undefeated against in-state opponents when the Thunderbirds take to the court on Tuesday night against Utah Valley. The match in Orem is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. with live stats anticipated to be available online at
