CEDAR CITY, Utah - Jan. 25 - Southern Utah University gymnastics will take to the road for the first time this season when the Thunderbirds face Utah State and Boise State in Logan on Friday night.
“Utah State and Boise State are both great teams and it will make for a great meet,” head coach Scott Bauman said. “We are still dealing with some injuries, but it will be good to have our younger athletes continue to get experience. The experience they gain now will only help us later in the season.”
In addition to experience, SUU will also be looking for its first win of the year on Friday after losses to Missouri and Brigham Young to begin the season.
Momentum looks to be on the Thunderbirds' side though as SUU is currently riding a 16-meet winning streak against Utah State with the last defeat coming in Logan during the 2005 season. Southern Utah has had opposite fortunes against Boise State, falling to the Broncos in the previous three regular season meets. The last victory over BSU came during the 2008 season in Boise.
The meet on Friday night is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. with live stats and a video feed anticipated to be available online at www.utahstateaggies.com.
