PRIMM, Nev., April 22 - Southern Utah's Monica Jung and
Jeff Evans were named to the respective women's and men's all-Summit League
teams, it was announced Sunday night. The announcement was made at the league's
golf championship banquet at Primm Valley Resort.
Jung, a freshman from Sydney, Australia, earned first-team
honors, while Evans, a senior from Cedar City, Utah, was named to the second
team for his third straight all-Summit honor. The teams were selected based upon the individuals' overall Golfstat collegiate ranking.
Jung, who either led or co-led the Thunderbirds in every
tournament this season, carried the third-lowest stroke average among Summit
League players, at 76.12. Her scoring average is the lowest in the five-year
SUU women's golf history. She was the individual champion at two tournaments
this season, the Weber State Invitational last fall and this spring's
Jackrabbit Invitational, which was held at Primm Valley Golf Club, where this
week's Summit League Championships are being held.
Evans, the Summit League's reigning player of the year, also
had the third-best stroke average in the league, at 73.3. He led or co-led the
Thunderbirds in four tournaments this season, including a fourth-place finish
at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational and a fifth-place finish at the
Wildcat Invitational. He also finished fourth at the Battle of the Tetons, but
teammate Nic Booth came in third to lead the squad at that tourney.
