KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 27 - Three Southern Utah
University women's tennis players, Ksusha Johnson, Olia Tatarchenko and Alex Ivanova, have earned all-Summit League honors, the league has announced.
Johnson, a senior from Moscow, Russia, became Southern Utah's
first four-time all-Summit League selection in tennis after compiling a 6-2
record in conference play and a 12-6 overall mark playing exclusively at the
No. 1 singles position. She also teamed with Lisa Pleskan to go 4-3 in league
play and 9-8 overall at second doubles.
Tatarchenko, a junior from Rostov On Don earned her second
all-Summit honor after posting the team's best singles mark at 14-3, including
a perfect 7-0 record in league matches playing at the third position. She also
teamed with Ivanova to go 7-0 in conference matches at first doubles, and 12-5
overall. Tatarchenko set an SUU record with an 18-1 overall record last year,
making her 32-4 over the past two seasons.
Ivanova, a sophomore from Evpatoria, Ukraine and the 2010
Summit League newcomer of the year, is another repeat selection to the
all-league squad after posting a 5-2 record at No. 2 singles in conference
matches (8-9 overall) and notching a perfect mark in conference doubles matches
while teamed with Tatarchenko.
With three selections the Thunderbirds had the second-most
representatives on the squad, just behind league champ Oral Roberts, which
placed four members on the 12-player team.
