CEDAR CITY, Utah, Nov. 8 - Southern Utah University's
Dylan
Fox and
Brad Meyer have been named to the 2012 CoSIDA Academic All-District Eight
football team, it was announced today.
Fox, a senior center from Cedar City, Utah (Cedar High
School), was named to the team after compiling a cumulative 3.69 grade point
average in economics, while Meyer, a junior defensive tackle from Boise, Idaho
(Capital High School) earned recognition with a 3.92 GPA in chemistry.
Both players have started every game this season. Fox earned
academic all-Great West Conference honors three times while the Thunderbirds
competed in the GWC, while Meyer earned that award twice with the highest
cumulative GPA of any football player on the academic GWC squad as a freshman
and as a sophomore.
Both players will now be placed on the ballot for CoSIDA
Academic All-American consideration.
To be eligible for the team student-athletes must be of
sophomore or higher academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher
and be in at least their second year at the respective institution. Balloting
for the district awards is conducted among CoSIDA members in the specific
district. District Eight is made up of institutions in Alaska, Arizona,
California, Hawaii, Idaho, evada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, British Columbia
and the Yukon.
