OGDEN, Utah, Sept. 2 - Southern Utah forward Ally Thimsen received recognition as the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week after notching two goals and an assist in the Thunderbirds 5-0 shutout win over visiting CSU Bakersfield on Sunday.
The SUU freshman from Broomfield, Colo. put up the game's first score in the 18th minute, assisted on the second less than 10 minutes later, then added her second goal in the 61st minute.
Thimsen played a part in three of the five goals, helping Southern Utah capture its first victory of the season. Her scoring total will also go in the SUU record books as the second-highest marks in both single-game points (5) and goals scored (2).
The Big Sky Conference also honored Weber State's Mackenzie Harrison as the co-Offensive Player, while goalkeepers Natalie Schwery of Eastern Washington Nathalie and Natalie Gilbertson from Northern Arizona received recognition on the defensive side.
