CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah University basketball coach Todd Simon announced today the signing of NJCAA All-American forward Elliott Smith from Harcum College (Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania) to a National Letter of Intent.
“We're really excited about adding Elliott,” Simon said. “His accolades speak for themselves. He is a great scorer and rebounder and will bring toughness and leadership to our program."
A 6-foot-6 inch forward from Pittsburg, California, Smith enjoyed a decorated career playing for Drew Kelly at Harcum College. As a freshman, Smith played in 32 games, averaging 28 minutes and producing 13.9 points plus 7.1 rebounds a contest helping lead Harcum to a 28-4 record. This year, as a sophomore, Smith averaged 18.2 points and 7.5 rebounds a game, as Harcum finished with a 28-5 overall record, a Region XV and District 3 championship, and a trip to Hutchinson, Kansas for the NJCAA National Tournament.
In April, Smith was named a 3rd team NJCAA D1 Juco All-American, and selected to play in the NCJAA D1 National All-Star game. Smith finished his Harcum career with 1,024 points (3rd), 465 rebounds (4th), 120 steals (6th), 69 blocks (7th), and the 6th All-American in school history.
Smith graduated from Freedom High School in Oakley, where he played for Coach Drew Torres. As a Senior Smith lead his team to the North Coast Division 1 Championship, and the semifinals of the State Championship. Smith finished his career as at Freedom High School as the All-time leading scorer.
