FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Thunderbird track and field teams were in action in Flagstaff, Arizona, on Friday night at the NAU Tune Up.
Josie Riggs, Sharlie Dimick and Kaylee Able were all in action in the 3,000-meter at the event, where Riggs (10:25.92) placed first and Dimick (10:37.70) placed second and Abel (11:05.47) came in third.
The time Riggs ran, which adjusts to 9:59.89, is the ninth fastest time in SUU school history.
Linnea Saltz ran an adjusted 2:14.37 in the women’s 800-meter, which is a personal best for her and puts her seventh all-time in the SUU record book in the event.
SUU was well represented in the men’s 800-meter, with Brady DuPea finishing seventh, Robby Lee finishing eighth and Brian Espino finishing ninth.
Michael Finch finished fifth in the men’s 3,000-meter with a 9:20.15
The Thunderbirds did not send a full squad to Flagstaff, as they used the meet as an opportunity a few athletes to set top marks leading up to the Big Sky Indoor Championships next weekend.
SUU will still be in action tomorrow as the Distance Medley Relay team will compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, in hopes of setting an NCAA qualifying mark.
