Thunderbirds Fall to Hornets in Final #BigSkyMBB Road Game

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Thunderbirds fell to the Sacramento State Hornets 86-76 in their final road game of #BigSkyMBB play.

James McGee led the Thunderbirds in the loss with 22 points. Jacob Calloway and John Marshall added 18 and 11, respectively.

The Thunderbirds shot hot from beyond the arch, finishing 14-of-27 from the free throw line for a 51.9 percentage.

The game tied at 13, 27, and 30 before the Hornets pulled ahead just before halftime for a 36-33 lead.

The game tied once again just a couple minutes into the second half before the Hornets widened the gap midway through the second half for a 57-49 lead.

SUU pulled within four of CSUS with 1:39 to play after a pair of Marshall free throws, but the Hornets responded quickly to regain their lead and seal the 10-point victory, 86-76.

The Hornets finished with five players in double figures, led by Nick Hornsby with 22 points.

Back Home

The Thunderbirds return home to round out Big Sky Conference play as they host Eastern Washington on Thursday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. before hosting the University of Idaho in SUU’s Senior Game on Saturday, March 4, at 4:00 p.m.
