SUU Sits Fourth After One Round At American Sky

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, April 29 – Jake Holt was tied for sixth place at even-par 72 and Tim Leonard was another shot back in 12th as Southern Utah shot 296 over the par 72, 6,936-yard Dominion Country Club on Monday to sit in fourth place after the first day of the 12-team American Sky Conference golf championship.

SUU was 14 shots off the pace of Houston Baptist, which had three players under par to finish at 6-under par 282. Utah Valley, led by first-round leader Brayden Eriksen, was second at 291, followed by Northern Colorado (294) and SUU.

Holt was 3-under par heading into the back nine, but a double-bogey on 12 and a bogey on 14 pushed him back to par. Leonard was even par after the front nine but bogies on 10 and 12 put him at 2-over before a birdie on 18 gave him a 73 in the clubhouse.
