CEDAR CITY, Utah, July 1 – Southern Utah University punter Brock Miller has been named to the 2013 College Football Performance Awards watch list for punters, the CFPA has announced.

Miller, a senior from Solana Beach, Calif. (Santa Fe Christian HS) finished the 2012 season as the Thunderbirds’ career-leader with an average of 42.6 yards per punt. He kicked 67 times for 2,896 yards in 2012, an average of 43.3 yards per punt, the fourth-best average in SUU history and the 11th-best average in the FCS ranks. His punts resulted in eight touchbacks and 19 fair catches and he pinned opponents inside the 20 yard line 25 times. He had 16 punts of 50 yards or better, including efforts of 71 and 72 yards, the fifth- and sixth-longest punts in school history.

Miller gives the Thunderbirds five players on their respective CFPA watch lists. He joins senior wide receiver Fatu Moala, sophomore defensive end James Cowser, sophomore linebacker Zak Browning and senior place kicker Colton Cook as players to watch in 2013.

Two SUU players have earned year-end honors from the CFPA in the last three seasons: San Diego Chargers draft selection Brad Sorensen, who earned the 2012 CFPA Elite Quarterback Award, and Arizona Rattlers WR Tysson Poots, who took home the 2010 CFPA Elite Wide Receiver Award.
