CEDAR CITY, Utah, July 25 – Southern Utah’s Jake Holt has been named a 2013 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America, the GCAA has announced.

Holt, a junior from Tooele, Utah, led SUU with a stroke average of 73.5 this past season when he finished fifth at the American Sky Conference championship to earn all-ASC tournament team honors. He is majoring in biology. Earlier this month he earned Academic All-American Sky status.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.

“We’re very proud of Jake,” SUU Golf Coach Richard Church said. “He’s a good student who has learned to balance the pressures of the classroom and the pressures of Division I competition. It’s nice to see him have the kind of success he had on the course this year while keeping his academics strong as well.”
