Women's Tennis Singles Come Through for Victory at Dominican

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - Southern Utah University women's tennis swept No. 2 through No. 5 singles en route to a 5-4 victory over Dominican University on Sunday afternoon. The sweep was the second in as many competitions for the Thunderbirds as SUU moved to 3-1 on the year.

Jane Marushko captured victories in both singles and doubles, posting a 6-1, 6-0 win over DU's Emily Prescott at No. 2 singles after taking an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles with Sarah Lundin. Veronika Rogova only dropped two games in her 6-0, 6-2 victory over Caitlin Aloia at No. 3 singles and Nastya Vasileva and Madeline Skaras only dropped three games apiece at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively, logging 6-1, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-3 wins.

Southern Utah suffered defeats at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and No. 1 and and No. 6 doubles, leading to the final 5-4 outcome. The Thunderbirds will return to the courts tomorrow, facing the University of San Francisco at Golden Gate Park.
