OGDEN, Utah - Nov. 10 - Southern Utah split the opening sets with the Weber State Wildcats on Tuesday night, but suffered defeat in four as the Thunderbirds dropped a 25-20, 28-30, 25-18, 25-21 decision on the road.  The loss drops the T-Birds to 8-19 on the year while WSU moves to 7-19 with the win.

SUU found itself down early in the first set as Weber State raced to a 4-0 lead before the T-Birds answered with three straight points of their own.  However, Southern Utah just wasn't able to crack into the Wildcat lead as the home team held the advantage through the end of the stanza to post a 25-20 victory.

The Thunderbirds fell behind early in the second set as well, but fought back to tie the game at 10-10 and then recorded back-to-back points on an Analaine Pelaez and a WSU attacking error.  The lead didn't hold as long as the T-Birds would have hoped as the teams worked through 11 ties down the stretch.  Southern Utah fought off four Wildcat set points before finally taking a 29-28 lead after another Pelaez kill and closed out the 30-28 victory following a WSU attacking error.

Early deficits proved to be the demise of Southern Utah in each of the third and fourth sets as the Wildcats built leads of 3-0 in each stanza.  Weber State held the advantage through each of the closing sets, claiming victories of 25-18 and 25-21 to capture the match.

Pelaez led all attackers with a match-high 29 kills, marking a new single-game record for the redshirt freshman.  Jazmine Ma'afala joined her in double figures with 13 kills and added 13 digs for her 11th double-double of the season.  Jenna Leggat and Chelsea Bair led the Wildcat attack with 20 and 17 kills, respectively.

Southern Utah will close out its regular season this weekend when the Thunderbirds play at Oakland and IPFW.
