CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah University men’s tennis will play a dizzying slate of matches this week when the Thunderbirds face five teams in five days. The stretch will begin Thursday at Northern Colorado and will wrap up with a match-up at UNLV on Monday.
The Thunderbirds will remain in Las Vegas leading up to the match at UNLV with non-conference contests against Idaho State, Seattle and Western New Mexico scheduled on Saturday and Sunday at the Darling Tennis Center. SUU will face the Bengals on Saturday and SU and WNMU at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively, on Sunday.
Scouting Northern Colorado
Northern Colorado will enter the match on Thursday with an overall record of 4-4, including a 1-3 mark in Big Sky Conference play. The Bears’ wins have come against Seattle (5-2), UMBC (5-2), South Dakota State (4-3) and Northern Arizona (4-3).
Scouting Idaho State
Idaho State will arrive in Vegas with an overall record of 5-2 and a perfect 4-0 mark in conference play. The Bengals upset Sacramento State last weekend, 5-2, a team that beat Southern Utah, 7-0.
Seattle will travel to Vegas looking for its first victory of the year with an 0-12 record.
Scouting Western New Mexico
Western New Mexico is a Division II program, playing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Mustangs are currently 6-10 on the year.
UNLV will have a two week break before hosting Southern Utah and is riding a three-match winning streak. The Rebels are currently 9-4 on the year, including a perfect 8-0 record at home.
