CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah University men’s tennis will wrap up its 2013 home schedule this week when the Thunderbirds host Weber State on Thursday and Portland State on Friday.
A spring snowstorm in Cedar City has moved the match on Thursday to the Green Valley Resort & Spa in St. George. Friday’s match is still tentatively planned to be played on the Thunderbird Tennis Courts.
Freshmen Troy Benson and Bryton Wells combined for Southern Utah’s first individual victory of the year at No. 1 doubles last weekend, beating Northern Arizona’s Kester Black and Shaun Waters, 8-4. However, the team is still looking for its first team point and team victory during the year heading into the matches this week.
The match against Weber State on Thursday is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. with the women’s match against the Wildcats to immediately follow. The men will take to the court against Portland State on Friday at 1:00 p.m.

Portland State is currently 7-12 on the year, including a 1-7 mark in the Big Sky Conference. The Vikings have lost four of their last five matches with their last win coming against Division II Lewis-Clark State College (4-3) on April 12.
