CEDAR CITY, Utah, May 20 – Southern Utah University wide receiver Fatu Moala has been named to the College Football Performance Awards’ 2013 FCS Wide Receiver Watch list, the CFPA has announced.

Moala, a senior from Kearns, Utah (Kearns HS) was a second-team all-Big Sky Conference performer in 2012 after leading the Thunderbirds with 65 receptions for 810 yards and nine touchdowns.

"Congratulations to Fatu Moala on earning a spot on the 2013 CFPA Watch List," CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith said. "Moala has the potential to become the third CFPA winner at SUU, following recent San Diego Chargers draft selection Brad Sorensen and former T-Birds wide receiver Tysson Poots."

Sorensen earned the CFPA’s Elite Quarterback Award in 2012, while Poots was the Elite Wide Receiver Award winner in 2010.

Moala is one of 34 returning wide receivers, including four Big Sky players, on the 2013 watch list. In addition to Moala, the BSC is represented by Cal Poly’s Willie Tucker, Eastern Washington’s Ashton Clark and Montana State’s Tanner Bleskin.

All CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.

Currently, there are 111 CFPA recipients listed on official 2013 NFL rosters. More than 130 CFPA recipients have signed professional contracts, and twenty-one have been first-round NFL Draft selections.

Southern Utah opens its 2013 season August 29 at South Alabama.
