CEDAR CITY, Utah, Sept. 30 – Southern Utah’s Colton Cook has been named this week’s ROOT Sports Big Sky Conference co-Player of the Week for special teams, the conference office announced today.

Cook, a senior kicker from Bountiful, Utah (Viewmont HS) was perfect on helping lift the Thunderbirds to a 27-21 win at Northern Colorado on Saturday. He was 3-for-3 on extra point attempts, 2-for-2 on field goal attempts and all of his kickoffs went for touchbacks.

Cook’s season-long 48-yard field goal gave the Thunderbirds a 3-0 lead and set the SUU career field goals record at 39. His 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter gave the T-Birds a 27-14 advantage and extended the career record.

This is Cook’s second Big Sky Player of the Week honor this season, as he received recognition following his game-winning field goal at South Alabama in the season-opener.

Cook shares the award with this week’s opponent’s kicker, UC Davis’ Brady Stuart, who kicked three field goals in the Aggies’ win over Idaho State last week.
