CEDAR CITY, Utah, Oct. 28 – Southern Utah placekicker Colton Cook has earned his third ROOT Sports Big Sky Player of the Week honor of the season following his performance in the Thunderbirds’ 19-9 win over Idaho State last Saturday. He shares the special teams honor with Northern Arizona kick returner Marcus Alford.

Cook, a senior from Bountiful, Utah (Viewmont HS), was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts and he converted his only point after touchdown in the win. His four field goals in the game were one shy of the SUU single-game record and gave him 47 for his career, the most in SUU history. He has 14 field goals this season and leads the team in scoring with 59 points.

Cook’s field goals came from 38, 30, 38 and 22 yards, with his final effort giving the Thunderbirds a 19-9 lead with just 27 seconds to play.

Cook has now been named ROOT Sports Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week four times during his SUU career.
