CEDAR CITY, Utah, Dec. 18 – Southern Utah University placekicker Colton Cook has been named to the Sports Network’s and the Associated Press’ 2013 All-America teams as a third-team selection.

Cook, a graduate student from Bountiful, Utah (Viewmont HS), led the Big Sky Conference and currently ranks third in the nation with 1.54 field goals per game and he was second in the league and is currently 16th in the FCS with an 80 percent (20-of-25) field goal success rate. Cook, who is a two-time all-BSC selection and a 2013 pre-season all-American, scored 84 points to lead the Thunderbirds in scoring for the second straight season. He also set the school’s career and single-season field goals records this season, with 53 and 20, respectively.

Cook was one of 14 Big Sky players to be selected to the Sports Network team. The 14 selections were tied with the Missouri Valley Conference for the highest number of all-American representatives by a conference.

The two honors make Cook’s all-America total four with an academic all-America honor as well. He was previously named to both the College Sports Madness and the Beyond Sports Network’s teams. Cook earned first-team honors from College Sports Madness and third-team recognition from Beyond Sports Network. He also earned second-team Capital One Academic All-America honors.

SUU linebacker Zak Browning, defensive end James Cowser and offensive lineman Cody Burgess also earned recognition from College Sports Madness, earning third-team nods.
