SUU Women’s Tennis Continues Home Stand

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah University women’s tennis will continue a six-match home stand this week when the Thunderbirds host Montana and Montana State on Friday and Saturday. The matches are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.

SUU will enter the matches having snapped a five-match losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the University of North Dakota.

Scouting Montana

The University of Montana is currently 5-5 on the year and 1-0 in the Big Sky after a win over Montana State (7-0) in Missoula. The Grizzlies other victories have come over Gonzaga (4-3), Lewis-Clark State (7-0), UC Riverside (6-1) and Seattle (6-1).

Southern Utah lost 5-2 at Montana last season in Missoula.  The Thunderbirds picked up their points at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.

Scouting Montana State

Montana State is currently 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the Big Sky Conference. The Bobcats’ victories this season have come against Lewis-Clark State (6-1), Towson (5-2), Coppin State (6-0) and Portland State (7-0). MSU has not competed since March 1.

Southern Utah beat Montana State last year in Bozeman, 4-3, after picking up the doubles point and wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles.

Staying in Line

Southern Utah has used the same lineup at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles in every match this season.
