Adam AhQuin returns as an assistant coach for Southern Utah University gymnastics after having already served in a similar role during the 2008-10 seasons. He was also a member of the staff as an undergraduate assistant coach during the 2001-04 seasons, graduating from SUU with a degree in psychology.

"It is a privilege to be asked to come back and work with the great coaching staff at SUU," AhQuin said of the position. "I really think that 2015 has national potential and that makes it that much more exciting."

AhQuin has a wealth of gymnastics coaching experience after having served as the head coach on vault, bars and floor with GMS Gymnastics in Manassas, Va. from 2010-13. Under his tutelage, athletes from the club showed dramatic improvement and moved on to compete at regional and national competitions. AhQuin also helped to develop the club's first level 10 gymnasts in close to a decade.

He also coached gymnastics in San Diego with All-Star Gymnastics. As part of his coaching duties in 2006, AhQuin coached three athletes to the level 9 nationals.

In addition, AhQuin signed with Dorothy Day Otis dance agency out of Los Angeles, Calif. in 2004 and also performed for World Entertainment at Sea World of San Diego.  He performed with the professional acrobatic group, Rip Tide, under the direction of choreographer Valorie Kondos Field.

AhQuin is married to the former Rebecca Lemmon and the couple have five children with one more expected in November. AhQuin and his family reside in Hurricane, Utah. Outside of the gym, AhQuin works with young women at SCINSU Academy where he helps them to turn their "passions into purpose". He notes his motto as "if you're not giving 100 percent, what are you doing?"

"I am beyond excited to get Adam back in our program," head coach Scott Bauman said. "He brings a great energy and attitude into the gym. We've worked together long enough in the past that he will be able to come in and mix in immediately with our staff."
