Kayla Kovar Finishes 10th in Hammer, 13th in Discus, 20th in Shot

EUGENE, Ore. - June 14 - Southern Utah University's Kayla Kovar wrapped up her competition at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, finishing in 20th place in the women's shot put with a mark of 50 feet 10.25 inches. The event was her third and final of the competition, representing one of only three athletes in the nation to compete in three separate events at the championship.
Kovar's mark was three feet short of her season and career best of 53 feet 6.5 inches, a distance that would have put the senior in 14th place. Iowa State's Christina Hillman captured the individual title in the event with a throw of 58 feet two inches. Kovar finished ahead of athletes from Southern Illinois, Notre Dame and Kent State.
EUGENE, Ore. - June 12 - Southern Utah University's Kayla Kovar competed in her second event at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday with a 13th-place finish in the women's discus. Kovar threw a mark of 170 feet (51.83m) to finish just outside the top half of the field.
Kovar finished ahead of competitors from Colorado State, Kentucky, Indiana State, Miami, Western Michigan, Stanford, Southern Illinois and Kent State. Kovar was first to throw in her flight, matching the mark of 170 feet on her final two attempts.
She will wrap up her weekend with an appearance in the women's shot put on Saturday.

EUGENE, Ore. - June 11 - Southern Utah University's Kayla Kovar recorded a 10th-place finish in the women's hammer throw, the first of three events for the senior at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Kovar threw a mark of 204 feet five inches, narrowly missing a first-team All-American finish by 14 inches. The distance was short of her season-best and school-record mark of 216 feet nine inches, a performance that would have put her second in the nation. The finish was the best of the Big Sky Conference competitors as NAU's Lauren Stuart finished 12th with a mark of 202 feet seven inches.
Kovar also finished ahead of athletes from Nebraska, Georgia, Western Kentucky, Minnesota, Akron, Fresno State, Illinois State, Alabama, Kentucky, Boise State, Texas A&M and Miami.
She will now prepare for the women's discus on Thursday and the women's shot on Saturday.
