CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah University men’s tennis will host a pair of matches this week, facing Eastern Washington and Idaho State.
SUU will look for its first victory of the season, having fallen 7-0 in each of its matches this year. The contest with Idaho State will be the second time in less than a week that the two teams have faced. Troy Benson narrowly missed a victory at No. 1 singles against the Benglas, losing by only a single break in the first and second sets 7-5, 6-4.
Both matches this week are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on the Thunderbird Tennis Courts and will be followed by the women, playing Eastern Washington and Idaho State at 2:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.
Scouting Eastern Washington
Eastern Washington will play Seattle on Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nev. before heading North to face the Thunderbirds on Wednesday. The Eagles are currently 5-9 on the year, including a 2-3 record in the Big Sky Conference.
Scouting Idaho State
Idaho State will also have a match in Las Vegas, Nev. on Tuesday, playing Youngstown State, before making the trip to Cedar City on Thursday. The Bengals are currently 7-3 on the season, including a perfect 4-0 in league play.
The men’s tennis team joins the Thunderbird family in 2013, becoming the newest sport on campus since the rebirth of the women’s volleyball program in 2009.
