CEDAR CITY, Utah. - Southern Utah University women’s tennis will play its final road matches of the 2013 season, traveling to Montana State on Monday and the University of Montana on Tuesday.
The matches will have a big impact on the conference tournament seeding with Montana currently in second, Southern Utah in fifth and Montana State in sixth. Montana (7-1) is narrowly ahead of Northern Arizona (7-2) in the standings, with Southern Utah (4-3) also in the same position, holding off Montana State, hot on its heels, with a 4-4 record.
Southern Utah lost its other conference road matches this year in a 4-3 defeat to Northern Colorado in Greeley and a 5-2 defeat to Northern Arizona in Sedona. However, the T-Birds are still above the .500 mark on the year with a 5-4 record away from Cedar City this season.
Both matches in the Montanas are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with results anticipated to be available online at www.suutbirds.com.
Scouting Montana State
Montana State is 5-10 overall on the year and currently sixth in the Big Sky Conference with a 4-4 record. The Bobcats will enter the match having won its last two matches after back-to-back victories over Weber State and Eastern Washington.
The University of Montana is currently 12-7 overall on the year, but in second place of the Big Sky Conference with a mark of 7-1. The Grizzlies are currently riding a four-match winning streak.
