CEDAR CITY, Utah. - Southern Utah University women’s tennis will close out its 2013 regular season on Thursday when the Thunderbirds host the Weber State Wildcats in St. George, Utah. The match will be played at the Green Valley Resort & Spa after a spring snowstorm blanketed the Thunderbird Tennis Courts earlier this week.
SUU will enter the match having clinched a spot in the Big Sky Conference tournament in its first year in the league. The Thunderbirds will be the No. 5 seed next weekend regardless of the outcome against WSU on Thursday.
Despite sharing the state of Utah, SUU and Weber State haven’t met on the tennis court since the 1997 season when the Wildcats took the match 6-3 in Las Vegas, Nev. Weber currently leads the all-time series 4-0 with all of its wins coming in the late 90’s.
The match on Thursday is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be preceded by the men’s match with Weber State at 10:00 a.m.
