T-Birds Back On The Course Friday in Palm Desert

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah men’s golf team will start play at their second tournament of the week this Friday, as they are competing in the 2017 University of Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.

On Tuesday the Thunderbirds wrapped up competition at their home event, the Pizza Hut-Pat Hicks Invitational.
The T-Birds were led by junior Fidel Concepcion, who finished in seventh place with a four-under-par performance. Freshman Jake Vincent also had a solid outing for the Thunderbirds, going under-par for the first time of his collegiate career with a 69 in the opening round. He finished the seventh one-under.
As a team the Thunderbirds finished in sixth place at the event.
The 2017 Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate will be a three-day, three-round event played at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, California.
The Classic Club is a Par 72 course, which is 7,322 yards in length. The event is hosted by the University of Wyoming.
Last year in the same event the Thunderbirds were led by Concepcion, who finished in a tie for 35th. Concepcion shot the low round for SUU with a 72. As a team the Thunderbirds finished in 20th last season, and will be looking to improve on this finish this time around.
