The last match for the Thunderbirds was on February 3rd in Sacramento, California. The team was swept 0-7 by the Sacramento State Hornets in their first Big Sky matchup of the 2017 season. This was the first time that the Thunderbirds had been swept in the season.
The team was scheduled to play the Sonoma State Seawolves the following day, but the match was canceled due to inclement weather in California.
The Thunderbirds will play four different opponents this weekend including Creighton University, MSU Denver, Colorado State Pueblo, and Northern Colorado. All four teams are in various stages of their 2017 season. Creighton is currently 3-3 having played teams like Iowa and North Dakota while the match against MSU Denver on Saturday will be the first match of the season for the Roadrunners.
The only Big Sky opponent in this stretch for the Thunderbirds will be Northern Colorado. The Bears currently have a 3-4 overall record, but are in the midst of a three match winning streak. They have played three other Big Sky teams to this point in the season, picking up wins over North Dakota and Montana, both by a score of 5-2.
The Thunderbirds will kick things off Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. against the Creighton Bluejays. They will continue playing one match per day with MSU Denver Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and Colorado State Pueblo Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. The team will finish play in Greeley Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. against the Bears.
