Lady T-Birds Set for Rematch With Lumberjacks

CEDAR CITY, Utah - After a much-needed day off Thursday, the Southern Utah women’s basketball team will hit the road this weekend for a Big Sky rematch with the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.

Last week the Lady T-Birds traveled to the great state of Montana for their only matchups of the season with the Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State Bobcats. The Thunderbirds fell in both games despite leading for most of the game against the Bobcats.

Jessica Richardson had a big week for the Thunderbirds putting up 13 points and pulling in five rebounds against the Grizzlies and posting her fourth double-double of the season against the Bobcats with 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Scouting Report: Northern Arizona Lumberjacks

The last time the Lumberjacks and the Thunderbirds met they were kicking off Big Sky conference play in Cedar City on New Year’s Eve. The Lumberjacks were able to mount a last-second comeback to send the game into overtime where they would eventually beat the Thunderbirds by a score of 77-68.

Since beating the Thunderbirds, the ‘Jacks have only won one other game in conference play, a 56-47 win over Eastern Washington. They currently sit in 10th place in the Big Sky standings with a 2-11 conference record. Redshirt junior Olivia Lucero leads the Lumberjacks offensively, averaging 15.1 points per game. Lucero had 16 points and three steals the last time the two teams met.

Tip Off

Saturday’s matchup in Flagstaff is set to tip off at 2:00 p.m. in the NAU Walkup Skydome. As with all Big Sky conference games, a live stream will be available at and live stats will be available at Saturday’s game will also be broadcast on Fox Sports Arizona and Fox College Sports Pacific.
