LOGAN, Utah - Two Thunderbirds have been honored by the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference following a week with two meets in which the Thunderbirds broke the school record on both occasions.
Senior Danielle Ramirez was named Co-Gymnast of the Week by the MRGC, and freshman Autumn Jorgensen was named Floor Specialist of the Week.
After a pair of successful meets, Ramirez and Jorgensen were named SUU Co-Athletes of the week.
Ramirez scored a 39.475 in the all-around on Monday in SUU’s victory over Denver. She shared the honor with Boise State’s Shani Remme, who scored the same score in the all-around in a meet that was also against the Denver Pioneers.
For Ramirez, this is her second Gymnast of the Week honor of the season. She has also been named Vault and Beam Specialist of the Week during the 2017 campaign.
Jorgensen tied the SUU school record on the floor exercise against Utah State by scoring a 9.950. Utah State’s Madison Ward had claimed the Floor Specialist honor every week this season, which was a streak broken by Jorgensen.
This was Jorgensen’s first award from the MRGC.
