CEDAR CITY, Utah - March 16 - Southern Utah University gymnastics recorded season highs on three of four events, en route to a season-best 195.875 on Friday night. However, the final wasn't enough to catch Boise State which finished with a 196.850 after scoring a 49.250 or better on three events.

The Thunderbirds' season bests began on vault and bars with matching team scores of 48.950, but culminated in a 49.300 on the balance beam, marking the fourth-best score in school history. The performance came on the heels of a season-low 47.175 last week against Utah State and could cue a turnaround for the Thunderbirds as the team goes into the WAC Championships next weekend.

"I think this meet really gave us a lot of confidence," head coach Scott Bauman said after the meet. "It was good to see the girls go out and hit their routines and do some great gymnastics."

The highlight of the great gymnastics included an individual title for Alyssa Click on the balance beam as the junior tallied the third-best score in school history with a 9.925, setting a new career best. All six gymnasts for the T-Birds on beam scored a 9.800 or better with seniors Brooke Cersosimo and Anna Schumacher tallying 9.875's in their final meet in the Centrum Arena. Schumacher's score marked a new career best for the senior with freshman Ana Jaworski and junior Michaela Chernoch also turning in career bests of 9.825 and 9.800, respectively.

The season-best scores for Southern Utah on vault and beam were in spite of falls on the event suffered by Cersosimo and Chernoch, respectively. The mishaps didn't seem to shake the lineups in the least as freshman Jamie Armijo led the way on vault with a 9.850 and Click and Cersosimo put up team-best 9.875's on bars.

Armijo recorded her third career-best mark of the night on floor, tying Jeffrey on the event with a 9.800 as the duo finished in fourth place. The mark also tied Jeffrey's season best. Caitlin Kennedy's 9.725, Jaworski's 9.700 and Rochelle Bernier's 9.650 rounded out Southern Utah's final team score of 48.675.

SUU will be back in action on Monday afternoon, traveling to Provo to face Brigham Young University in a meet that is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. Fans can follow the meet via an online blog and anticipated live stats online at
