Holt, who had two of his three lowest rounds of the year with an opening-round 67 and Saturday’s 68, finished five strokes off the pace of UMKC’s Nathan Hughes and one shot out of a three-way tie for third. SUU’s Nic Booth also turned in a top-20 finish after a 68 on Saturday left him at 210. Booth shot a season-low 68 twice at the tournament, in the first and last round with a 74 on Friday.
Rounding out Southern Utah’s entry, Sammy Cole (71-71-70) finished 24th at 212, with Tim Leonard (73-72-78) 67th at 223 and Taylor Schone (73-74-83) 81st at 230. Jameson Keiley, who was playing as an individual, was 86th at 234 (75-81-78).
UMKC edged BYU in a one-hole playoff for the team title after both teams finished the first 56 holes at 833, with Idaho third at 834 and day-two leader Cal State Fullerton fourth at 835. Host Kansas State finished fifth (941), followed by Nebraska (846), Kansas (847) and SUU, which was the first-round leader after shooting 279 on Thursday but slipped into a tie for seventh with a round of 287 on Friday.
Long Beach State and Grand Canyon finished in a tie for ninth at 858, while Northern Iowa (859) was 11th, followed by Columbia (864), Drake (868), Bowling Green (885) and Creighton (899).
