CEDAR CITY, Utah, Nov. 14 - Southern Utah University has signed John Marshall from Westwind Preparatory Academy to a National Letter of Intent for basketball, SUU Coach Nick Robinson announced today.

"John is an excellent floor leader and competes to win at both ends of the court," Robinson said.  "We are excited to welcome John and his family to the Thunderbird program."

Marshall, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound point guard, is averaging 19.7 points, 5.3 assists and three steals per game while knocking down 85 percent of his free throws for Westwind this year. He is rated as a two-star prospect by ESPN.

"I'm really excited to sign at Southern Utah," Marshall said. "I really liked the program when I came on my visit. I had an immediate connection with the coaches and I really liked the school. Cedar City is a beautiful place, and the campus is really nice. I had a good vibe when I was there and decided it was the place for me."

"We have sent over 240 Arizona players onto college since 1998 and John Marshall has been my single favorite player I've ever coached in my 10+ years," says Jeff de Laveaga, Westwind Preparatory Director of Basketball. "John is the hardest working player ever to play in my program."
