CEDAR CITY, Utah, March 21 – Southern Utah University basketball signee Race Parsons, a senior at South Sevier High School, won the 2013 American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships Facebook voting competition, Intersport has announced.

As the winner of the Facebook competition, Parsons will travel to Atlanta, Ga., to compete against seven of high school basketball’s top 3-point shooters in the American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, airing at 2 p.m. ET, April 6 on CBS during Final Four weekend.

Parsons was a four-year starter in basketball at South Sevier, where he led the Rams to back-to-back state championships in 2011 and 2012. He signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at SUU in November.

Facebook voting competition was held this winter. Each contestant submitted a three-minute video clip and voting was conducted in a 16-player head-to-head bracket. Parsons advanced to the championship where he took 51 percent of the vote to claim the right to advance to Atlanta.

Now in its third year, the American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships has featured some of the nation’s top high school basketball talent, including North Carolina’s JP Tokoto, Oklahoma State’s Phil Forte, Butler’s Kellen Dunham, Texas’ Sheldon McClellan and UCONN’s DeAndre Daniels.
