By SUU Strategic Communication
CEDAR CITY, Utah – After 14 spring practices, the Thunderbirds wrapped up spring ball last weekend with their Kids Day/Spring Game in Eccles Coliseum.
The current Thunderbird roster includes six returning starters on offense, eight on defense, and one on special teams. With 42 returning lettermen and 21 lost, the Thunderbirds are in the works of piecing together their 2017 team.
“I’m really excited about the progress of this upcoming year’s team,” head coach Demario Warren said. “We have been striving to build a foundation to be able to hit the ground running come fall, and the players and coaches have put us in great position to do so with their effort and focus this spring.”
The Thunderbirds will enter their summer break packed with lifting and conditioning before official practices start back up in August.
“We have a big summer ahead of us, and the countdown to Oregon has begun,” Warren said. “I’m excited about the challenges that are ahead of us.”
Southern Utah will kick off its 2017 season on Sept. 2 in Eugene, Ore., as they face the University of Oregon.Keep up with Thunderbird football by following @SUUFootball on Twitter and Instagram along with liking SUU Football on Facebook.
