Second Season At SUU

Aaron Fernandez is in his second season as a member of the Thunderbird staff. Last year Coach Fernandez worked primarily with the defensive line, and while he will continue with that group he will work with the entire defense as well as serve as the Thunderbirds’ assistant recruiting coordinator.

A first-team all-Great West Conference performer at defensive tackle for the Thunderbirds in 2008, Coach Fernandez will again work with the defensive line this season.

A three-year letterman for the Thunderbirds, Coach Fernandez was among the team’s leaders in tackles-for-loss and sacks the last two seasons as well as one of the top two tacklers among defensive linemen both seasons.

Coach Fernandez came to SUU after one season at Mesa Community College, where, in 2005, he earned first-team all-NJCAA Region I recognition. He was also a high school all-American at Red Mountain HS in his hometown of Mesa, Ariz.
