At SUU, 2008: Earned first-team all-GWC honors after leading the Thunderbirds in tackles for the second straight season. Finished the campaign with 94 tackles, including a team-high 47 solo stops. Also tallied 6.5 tackles for loss, a half-sack, broke up two passes and forced a fumble.

At SUU, 2007: Led team in tackles after starting all 11 games. Finished with 82 tackles, 40 solo, with seven TFLs, two passes broken up, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. Scored a touchdown against Cal Poly when he scooped up a fumble and returned it 20 yards into the end zone. Earned second-team all-GWFC recognition.

At SUU, 2006: Finished the season ranked third on the squad in tackles with 73, also had 40 solo stops. Talllied five tackles-for-loss, a half sack, an interception, a pass deflection and recovered a a fumble which he returned 48 yards. Earned second-team all-Great West Football Conference recognition and was named GWFC Player of the Week following the game at Cal Poly, where he had eight tackles, seven solo, recovered a fumble and scored a touchdown.

At SUU, 2005: Spent the season as a redshirt.

Personal: Earned first-team all-state honors as a linebacker as well as claiming the state 5A wrestling championship in the 215-pound division for Hillcrest HS during the 2004-05 school year. Team claimed a pair of region football championships. Also lettered in track. Parents are Juanita and the late Bruce Takeno. Is majoring in physical education and human performance.
