Third Season At SUU


    Paul Peterson is in his third season on the Thunderbird staff. This year he adds Passing Game Coordinator to his list of titles, which also include recruiting coordinator, quarterbacks coach and receivers coach.
    Coach Peterson is a graduate of Boston College where he quarterbacked the Eagles to a pair of bowl victories and was his team’s MVP following the 2004 season. While at BC Coach Peterson earned a pair of Big East Conference Player of the Week awards and he was named MVP of the Continental Tire Bowl as well as the 2005 Boston College Person of the Year. A Recipient of the Boston College Senior Leadership Award, Peterson led the Eagles to a 12-2 record as a starter and he finished up second on the team’s career passing percentage list.
    Prior to attending Boston College Coach Peterson earned JC Gridwire All-American and honorable mention academic all-America recognition at Snow College, where he was a two-time team captain as well as a two-time all-conference performer. As a sophomore at Snow Peterson led all NJCAA quarterbacks in passing yards and touchdowns.
    After graduation from BC Peterson played for the Ottawa Renegades of the Canadian Football League before returning to Snow College, where in 2005 as quarterbacks coach he helped the Badgers to a 9-2 record, a No. 8 national ranking and a Top of the Mountain Bowl championship.
    The following season he moved on to Brigham Young University, where he served as an offensive graduate assistant, helping the Cougars to an 11-2 overall mark and a final No. 15 ranking after they claimed a Mountain West Conference title and a victory in the Las Vegas Bowl.
    Immediately prior to joining the Thunderbirds, Coach Peterson spent the 2007 season as a defensive graduate assistant at North Carolina State, where he worked under Coach Tom O'Brien, one of his coaches at Boston College.
    Coach Peterson is married to the former Meagan Davies. They are the parents of three sons, Owen, Mack and Cal.
