CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah soccer team and head coach Fred Thompson are proud to welcome the addition of five new Thunderbirds to the team prior to the start of the 2017 soccer season.

Kristi Nagai - Defender

Kristi Nagai comes to Southern Utah from Westminster, Colorado where she was a defender for Jefferson Academy.

“Kristi is a defender who brings a great technical presence to our team. She has a very big engine – ideal for a wide back. Kristi will help strengthen our defensive corps,” Thompson said.

Allyson Carlisle - Forward/Defender

Ally Carlisle comes to Southern Utah from Highland, Utah where she played her high school ball for American Fork High School.

“Ally is an athletic and fast wide player. She can play in the back or up front. As a defender, she will be hard to beat and as an attacker she will be a handful to deal with,” Thompson said.

Jacqueline Villanueva - Defender

Jackie Villanueva comes to Southern Utah from West Hills, California where she played defender for Grover Cleveland Charter High School.

“Jackie is a fast outside defender who will bring a dynamic presence to our backline. She is very comfortable getting forward into the attack and enjoys the one-on-one battles. Her relentless work ethic will be an excellent addition,” Thompson said.

Melissa Wilson - Forward

Melissa Wilson comes to Southern Utah from Richmond, California where she played forward for Campolindo High School.

“Melissa is a dynamic forward who will add pace to our front line. Her attitude and work ethic are also great qualities and we look forward to her expressing herself in the attack,” Thompson said.

Abbey Bishop - Defender

The team will also be adding Abbey Bishop, a transfer from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bishop is originally from Nibley, Utah where she played soccer for Mountain Crest High School.

“Abbey is a very athletic center back that brings a great junior college background with her. Her size, athleticism, and vision will be a great addition to our back line. It’s great to have her with us this spring and so far she has already made an impact,” Thompson said.
