CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah soccer standout and valedictorian Logan Harker addressed her class at the College of Education & Human Development graduation ceremony.
Harker received a degree in Physical Education and Human Performance and will further her education as she pursues a Master's Degree at Idaho State University beginning in fall of 2017.
While participating on the soccer team, Harker served as the student-athlete advisory committee president where she oversaw more than 300 student-athletes in NCAA and community service pursuits.
Harker shared her thoughts and experiences on the moments she has had a Southern Utah University Thunderbird and the moments that await her future.
“This is one of those moments. A moment when we are elated with our accomplishments and proud of all we have accomplished here at Southern Utah University. A moment we get to share together to relish the hard-earned diploma in our hands,” Harker said. “This moment did not come without many contributing moments along the way. Moments when we defied the odds and overcame obstacles. When we were at our breaking point but persevered.”
Harker expressed moments of both the lowest lows and the highest highs and the impact both the ups and downs have on making her and her fellow graduates who they are today.
“Take this moment and run with it. Do it for yourself. Do it for the people in your life and for the future people in your life. The ones you will continue to influence as you move forward with determination, will-power, and the resilience you have shown thus far,” Harker said. “Continue to dream, to plan, and to pursue the life-changing moments that lie ahead of you. There is so much potential that awaits us.”
