CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Flippin’ Birds will be back in Logan, Utah, this weekend, but this time a conference title is on the line. The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championships are set for Saturday at 6 p.m., as No. 11 Boise State, No. 19 Southern Utah, No. 23 Utah State and No. 32 BYU will all compete for the conference crown.

Last Time Out

The 2017 Flippin’ Birds continued to reach new heights on Monday, as senior Stacie Webb scored the first perfect 10.000 in the history of the program.

The Thunderbirds had several strong performances on beam, including a 9.900 from Autumn Jorgensen and a 9.925 from Kirsten Yee, but Webb stole the show by claiming the first perfect score in the history of SUU.

Webb was awarded the title of Beam Specialist of the Week for her efforts.

Unfortunately for the T-Birds they were not able to outscore the Cougars, as Brigham Young University took a narrow 195.650-195.625 victory.

The accolades and marks continue to look more and more impressive for the Thunderbirds, as this team has now broken the school record on three separate occasions, broken the 197.000 barrier for the first time in school history, set the highest road score in school history, and now Webb has set the first 10.000 in school history.

“This season is incredible,” Webb said looking back on the year so far. “Our team is amazing, our coaches are amazing and I think all of those factors together are leading to our success this year.”

The Thunderbirds are currently the No. 19 team in the country, with a chance to move up before the Regional Selection Show on Monday.

MRGC Landscape

The Broncos of Boise State will enter the MRGC meet with the best RQS (Regional Qualifying Score) in the league, as they currently have a 196.835. The Broncos are coming off a record-breaking evening, as they scored a 1977.675 en route to knocking off the Denver Pioneers. Boise State also has the top RQS on vault, bars and beam in the MRGC. Southern Utah owns the top spot on floor.

Boise State has claimed the last two titles at the MRGC Championships.

Boise State also has the top two all-arounders in the conference, with Shani Remme (39.320) and Courtney McGregor (39.125) sitting on top of that list. BYU’s Shannon Hortman is third in the MRGC in the all-around with a 39.110, followed by USU’s Bailey McIntire with a 38.660. Southern Utah does not have an all-arounder that has competed enough to receive an RQS.

On vault BSU’s Mary Frances Bir has the top RQS at 9.855, followed by fellow Bronco Ann Stockwell and SUU’s Stacie Webb who are tied for second with a 9.845.

Diana Mejia from Boise State has the top RQS on bars with a 9.895, followed by her teammate McGregor with a 9.890. BYU’s Brittni Wilde is third in the conference with a 9.880.

Remme and Sarah Means from Boise State are one and two in the MRGC on beam (9.905 & 9.890), followed by Jill Van Mierlo from BYU (9.855). Webb is fourth on beam with a 9.845.

Utah State’s Madison Ward is on top of the MRGC on floor with a 9.895, followed very closely by SUU’s Jorgensen with a 9.885.
