OGDEN, Utah - Southern Utah’s Kasey Knevelbaard has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week following a strong weekend of competition in the state of California.
Knevelbaard ran a personal best of 13:50.08 in the 5,000-meter at the Bryan Clay Invitational, which put him 13th in the entire NCAA and second in the Big Sky Conference behind teammate Mike Tate.
Knevelbaard has now won Athlete of the Week for three sports, including cross country, indoor track and field and now outdoor track and field. He earned three during cross country season, and two as part of SUU’s distance medley relay team during the indoor campaign. He is the only athlete in the Big Sky to complete this feat.
SUU has won one outdoor award so far this year, when Mike Tate was given the honor two weeks ago.
